Alex de Wet
Alex de Wet is a Director in our Real Estate Law practice. He practices as a commercial attorney, conveyancer and notary public. Alex has been working on commercial property law matters and litigious matters associated therewith for the better part of 18 years in both South Africa and Lesotho.
Notable is that Alex has been advising on various renewable energy projects as well as the establishment of various licensed medical cannabis corporations in Lesotho.

Alex obtained his BCom and LLB degrees from the University of the Free State in 2004 and 2006 respectively. He joined Webbers Attorneys, Bloemfontein in 2005 and after completing his articles he was admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer in 2007. He was appointed as Director and Partner with Webbers Attorneys Inc , Bloemfontein and Webber Newdigate , Maseru, Lesotho in 2014, during which he was the head of the departments in both countries. Alex joined Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr as a Director in 2023.

Acted for all the known commercial banks in South Africa and Lesotho and advised on all forms of securities in favour of the banks and registering same with the various deeds registries. Provided advise on the property rights for various clients on the establishment of a solar power farm and various cannabis cultivation farms.
Trust Law
Advised on the drafting of Deeds of Trust for various clients in South Africa and Lesotho. Furthermore, acted as Independent Trustees on several Trusts ranging from family trusts to blind trusts.
Cannabis Law
Advised numerous international clients on the establishment of the corporate structure, securing land rights, commercial contract and regulatory compliance for the cultivation and manufacturing of Medicinal Cannabis in South Africa and Lesotho.
International Law
Acted and advised the Kingdom of Lesotho in an International Arbitration, Singapore, regarding the expropriation of mining rights in Lesotho.
Litigation
Advised clients on various litigious matters ranging from property disputes, contractual disputes and general disputes.
