CDH's Pro Bono & Human Rights practice comprises seasoned legal practitioners dedicated to enforcing, protecting, and, where necessary, developing a broad spectrum of human rights.

Reflecting on her journey, Brigitta shares, "As early as I can remember, I felt that my life should be dedicated to fighting for positive change, leading with generosity and compassion, and committing to service, empowerment, and upliftment." Over her decade-long career, Brigitta has become a formidable litigator, with a focus on women’s rights, land rights, and empowering disadvantaged communities. She is also expanding her efforts to champion children’s rights.

"I am proud to have built a practice centred on advancing women’s rights, addressing land issues, and uplifting previously disadvantaged communities," she says.

Elgene has similarly dedicated her career to empowering vulnerable communities. As a Senior Associate at CDH, she specialises in migrant rights, citizenship law, women’s and children’s rights, as well as constitutional and administrative litigation.

"I began my career by serving articles at a non-profit public interest law centre focused on upholding constitutional rights," says Elgene.

Together, Brigitta and Elgene are not just advocating for change but are driving systemic transformation to advance women’s rights in South Africa. Their work directly addresses state failures that undermine the country’s Constitution, making them a force for justice and equality.
