Lebohang Mabidikane Director in the Competition Law practice discussed her Career path
Lebohang shares that a career in law was a natural choice for her. "Coming from a family of lawyers, this was always a field that interested me," she says. Advising large corporations on their transactions gives her a strong sense of accomplishment and allows her to contribute to the economy in her own unique way.
She recalls that the toughest deal she worked on involved two parties competing for the same asset, though only one had made a formal offer at the time. "It was a precedent-setting transaction, even though I still disagree with some of the regulators’ findings."
Reflecting on her career, Lebohang says she wouldn’t change a thing. "I’ve been bold in my decisions, and there’s nothing I feel I should have done but haven’t. In fact, there’s still much more to achieve—no regrets." Her advice to young women: "Remember, you’re not a ‘female lawyer,’ you’re a lawyer—and a good one. Don’t be intimidated. Show them just how capable you are!"
