Lucinde explains that since starting her articles, she has been practicing in the dispute resolution space. She is now specialising in corporate restructuring, focusing on business rescue and insolvency.

She challenges the idea that in order to be involved in corporate finance, one cannot be a litigator, noting that disputes, restructuring, and insolvencies in the corporate finance space are complex, urgent, and demanding.

Lucinde adds that no two days or cases are ever the same in dispute practice. One day, you might be able to advise on whether a director breached fiduciary duties and could be held personally liable for company debts. The next, you could be drafting urgent court papers to stop a major transaction, and soon after, appearing before the Financial Sector Conduct Authority in an insider trading investigation.
