Simone Dickson, Consultant in the Corporate & Commercial practice, appeared on eNCA to discuss women in the tech industry. In South Africa, fewer than a quarter of tech jobs are held by women. Simone points out that the tech industry remains predominantly male-dominated. Earlier this year, the World Economic Forum published a gender gap report, revealing that while women make up just over 49% of roles in the general workplace, they account for only 29% in the tech industry.

Is there a Price to pay when entering an agreement subject to foreign law?

While legal proceedings may be instituted in South Africa pertaining to a dispute governed by foreign law, such proceedings may be practically cumbersome to prosecute in South African courts for various reasons, including: * additional cost to litigants in obtaining advice from foreign legal practitioners on the application of the particular foreign law to the dispute being determined before a South African judge; * additional cost to litigants for their South African legal practitioners to become au fait with that particular foreign law; * the possible appointment of an assessor to aid the judge appointed to determine the matter in accordance with that particular foreign law; and * the possible appointment of the matter to be case managed.
