CDH's Private Equity (Investment Funds) team advised Metier in establishing the Metier Capital Growth Fund III (a parallel fund structure in South Africa and Mauritius)
CDH's Private Equity (Investment Funds) team advised Metier in establishing the Metier Capital Growth Fund III (a parallel fund structure in South Africa and Mauritius), which raised over US$182 million at its first closing, with further commitments expected by final close to exceed its targeted fund size of US$200 million.
The fund has a geographic focus on Sub-Saharan Africa and is expected to make eight to twelve equity and equity-related investments into mid-market companies with high growth features in sectors that benefit from regional economic and demographic trends such as population growth and increased urbanisation.

What is the status of parental leave?
The parental leave provisions of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997 were declared invalid because of inconsistency with the Constitution. The declaration of invalidity is suspended for two years to allow Parliament to remedy the defect. The Court has provided interim relief by amending the legislation to provide all parents 4 consecutive months' parental leave collectively. However, the Constitutional Court has to make the final decision on whether the order of invalidity is confirmed before it has any force. Your short-term lease may require ministerial consent
Section 3(d) of the Subdivision of Agricultural Land Act 70 of 1970 (Act) states that no lease shall be entered into without the consent of the Minister of Agriculture “ in respect of a portion of agricultural land of which the period is: * 10 years or longer; or * is the natural life of the lessee or any other person mentioned in the lease or; * which is renewable from time to time at the will of the lessee, either by the continuation of the original lease or by entering into a new lease, indefinitely or for periods which together with the first period of the lease amount in all to not less than 10 years. ”
